GARDENERS GARDEN SCHOOL - HOBBY HOME STUDY COURSE
GARDENERS GARDEN SCHOOL - HOBBY HOME STUDY COURSE
ABOUT THE COURSE
There are ten parts of course notes that are complemented by a CD-ROM designed by THE GARDEN SCHOOL and featuring plants and other presentations to accompany the course notes. On completion of each part you do the corresponding assignment paper which you send to THE GARDEN SCHOOL for correction.
ASSIGNMENTS
Once you complete the assignment, it is returned to The Garden School for marking. Once the assessment is marked, it is returned with comments and suggestions made by your tutor. The assignments are short, they can be completed using your course materials. Each assignment comprises of fifteen short answer questions.
THE PROJECTS
As you progress through the course you complete a different part of the project. Your project work is entered into your project work book. These are a series of practical or short research work carried out in your own garden (or a friend’s if you do not have your own garden).
Completing the project entails carrying out simple activities such as doing a soil pH test, noting the direction of the garden, observing plants in flower at certain times of the year etc. Doing so you build up a portfolio of information about your garden. We encourage you to visit other peoples’ gardens and see plants that you like and keep a record. The aim of the projects is that you can build up a profile of your garden and plants that you would like to grow in your garden.
We will ask you to submit your project work book after part 5, so we can give you guidance on your progress.
ENROLLING
You can enroll on the gardeners’ Garden School Home Study at anytime. Once enrolled, you have 18 months in which to complete the course. You can finish your course as quick as you like but we advise to take at least 12 months.
